Sony BDVE500W 5.1-Channel High-Definition Blu-ray and DVD Disc Home Theater System
The ease of setting this up was great. S-AIR works great. Had everything set up in less than 90 minutes. I don’t really care for the 2 tall front speakers for my living room. Purcahsed Atlantic Satellite 77305018 Speaker Stands (Black), also from Amazon, for the two rear surround sound speakers and it really finishes the set-up.

This product has performed as advertised. It was very simple to hook-up and configure. Was a little disappointed with the lack of wifi and internet streaming features found on much cheaper BlueRay players. Sound quality is superior and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fantastic surround sound.

I actually got this through the Sony online store. It was delivered within 3 days, very fast. The set up was not as easy as it seems described, had some problems with the wireless speakers. The biggest problem is the remote, which doesn’t seem to work when my TV is on. The TV is not a Sony btw, but a Philips. I cannot use it while watching a Blu-ray meaning adjusting the volume is a pain, as is the blu-ray menu. I had the remote replaced once already by Sony, but the new one is doing the same thing. Does anyone have an idea what’s wrong with this system,, they don’t seem to have any idea at Sony. I might return the system in it’s entirety soon. Sound is pretty good though and love the iPod cradle hook-up.

I recently purchased the Sony BDVE 500W Blu-Ray Home Theater System with S-AIR Technology for my living room after purchasing a Sony XBR9 52″ 240 Hz LCD HDTV. I love everything about this system almost. The speakers sound incredible. The picture is excellent. One of my favorite features is how I am able to use the DMPORT for my iPOD and listen to my music through the surround sound of this system. The one thing I dislike about this system more than anything, is the fact that it only has one video input which is the HDMI. It does have component out and video out but that doesnt help when you need the video inputs. It does have the S-AIR technology which is something I love very, very much because I am one of those consumers that hate cables and wires.
Overall, I do enjoy this system very much. I just wish they could have had a better design with the video on this system. I cant really even find comfort in calling this a receiver in this system. If you are looking for a system with a receiver, this is NOT it.
However, if you dont mind running all of your video inputs to your television, I would recommend this system to you.

This is a great home theater setup. Easy to use, and the included microphone makes calibration a breeze. The wireless rear speakers are truly a delight. It is not a true wireless solution in that the speakers are still connected to a wireless receiver that provides power, but it beats running speaker wires across the rooms. I’d rate it higher if it had more inputs but alas you’re limited to one optical and one coax. Would’ve been better also if it handled pandora and other streaming radio services. But overall it matches nicely with my Sony Bravia tv.
